Dr. Leah Dembitzer provides high quality psychological services to children, adolescents, families, and
schools in Ocean County, New Jersey. Dr. Dembitzer provides thorough assessments
linked to evidence-based cognitive-behavioral treatments tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Dr. Dembitzer has expertise in treating children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, depression,
ADHD, behavioral difficulties, tics and Tourette Syndrome, Trichotillomania, OCD, school refusal, and
selective mutism. Dr. Dembitzer provides psychological, diagnostic, and neuroeducational
assessments for school-aged children. Dr. Dembitzer is also interested in preventative
efforts, such as social-emotional learning and school climate, and has trained many teachers in these
competencies.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Dembitzer conducts research and produces scholarly work in peer
reviewed publications about assessment and social-emotional learning. Her doctoral dissertation was
awarded a funding grant from the Society of the Study of School Psychology, and a proposal for social-
emotional assessment won first place in a competition of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and
Emotional Learning. She is passionate about teacher training and has academic experience in her previous
role as Assistant Professor of Graduate Early Childhood Education and Special Education at
Concordia College – New York.
Dr. Dembitzer received her PsyD in school psychology from Rutgers University. She received specialized
clinical training through the Tourette Syndrome Clinic at Rutgers, as well as the social emotional
workgroup with Rutgers and New Brunswick public schools. She completed her doctoral internship and
post-doctoral experience at CHEMED, in Lakewood, NJ, where she led and was a part of the NYU
assessment partnership program. Dr. Dembitzer has provided psychological evaluations in public and
private schools in New Jersey. She is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York, and a certified
school psychologist.
